Veloce Paninoteca CBA

Originally posted on Adelaide Food Central:

There are 4 Veloce Paninoteca stores across the state with 2 on King William Street in the city. The most recent addition is the one in the Commonwealth Bank building. Coffee is their specialty and they only use 100% Arabica beans that are roasted to perfection. To compliment their beverages, they have a selection of breakfast options, breads, schiacciatas (flat breads), paninis, waffles, pancakes, gelati and sweets.

Today, I ordered their Cannoli. The filling is a combination of ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, cinnamon and all spice mixed in with cream. It had a thick consistency and was smooth in texture. There were a few pieces of lemon zest to add contrast to the sweetness. The cannoli shell was of a nice shape, however, it wasn’t as crispy as I had expected. The powdered sugar on top added extra sweetness and texture to the exterior. Ideally, the cannoli shells should be…

Zouki Cafe

Originally posted on Adelaide Food Central:

Zouki cafe is a chain that is found in many of the major hospitals in the eastern states. The Adelaide store is found at the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Frome Road. This place offers a variety of hot dishes as well as salads, sushi, sandwiches, soups, pastries, yoghurts, sweets and coffee. The cafe itself is modern and elegant in design, and it’s reminiscent of being in a modern day glass house.

As a snack, I ordered their Cherry Chocolate Cupcake. The cupcake was rather small, and at $4 a pop, I thought it was overpriced. As for the taste, it was dry, and the icing on top was firm and full of artificial colouring.

Clubhouse Barossa

Originally posted on Adelaide Food Central:

The Clubhouse out at Tanunda is enriched with history and the site dates back to 1891. Renown as an icon in the Barossa, this establishment has been well known for it’s community service over the years, however, these days it’s more about the hospitality. One of the main features inside the dining area is the wall length photograph which gives the illusion of dining amongst the vineyards. With regards to dining, it’s all about local fresh produce combined with their extensive wine list. Their speciality is steak and seafood, however, the traditional pub favourites are also available.

For lunch, I ordered the Bloody Big Burger. The meal was ready after a 15 minute wait and was nicely presented on a wooden chopping board. The beef patty was nice and thick, and its diameter was the same size as the bun. The meat was tender and succulent, with a nice pinkish…

Meet Fresh

Originally posted on Adelaide Food Central:

Meet Fresh is a popular Taiwanese dessert chain that has a focus on fresh natural ingredients. The name of the store came about because the owners wanted customers to “meet” the “fresh” and healthy desserts that they had to offer. Known for the taro balls, herbal jellies, tofu puddings and cold desserts, the offerings are quite traditional, and someone not familiar with them may be scratching their head as to what they’re about to eat.

For dessert, I had the Chocolate Waffle. Every customer making an order is handed a buzzer and you pick up your dessert when it’s ready. My waffle was ready 10 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. The waffle is actually a decent size and 4 times the size of what it would be elsewhere. The waffle was freshly made and piping hot when it arrived. Unlike other places, there were no chocolate pieces…
